Saved at age 12, Matthew has a genuine and increasing desire to follow the Lord. The past two years, he has served as a junior counselor at Camp Good News Day Camp and has helped with his church’s camp. “These experiences have deepened my faith.”

Aware of the temptations that today’s children face, Matthew agrees that “. . . we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). He longs to spread God’s Word, so that children can  receive Christ as Saviour and learn to make right choices.

Matthew is a high school graduate with an interest in architecture. He will be serving as a trainee this summer.

STATEMENT

Brianna grew up in a loving Christian home. When she was seven, a conversation with her father made her realize her need of a Saviour. That evening, she received Christ as Saviour.

Brianna served with us as a trainee last summer. Over the weeks, “God opened [her] eyes to see the reality that children need to hear the Gospel.” When the summer ended, she volunteered to teach the Bible lesson at weekly Good News Club for six months.

We see in Brianna a sincere love for the Lord Jesus. As she serves with us as a summer missionary and then attends Word of Life in the fall, we pray that her “. . . love may abound yet more and more . . .” giving her many            opportunities to share the Gospel with the children  (Philippians 1:9).

SUMMER MISSIONARIES

As an eight-year-old at Camp Good News, Julie remembers “receiving Jesus as her Saviour and truly understanding it.” Now a third-year summer missionary, Julie has been used of God to help many children understand the Gospel. Serving the Lord, in this way, has grown Julie’s faith. One week a club cancelled, and she got reassigned. At her new assignment, she saw a clubber she had taught previously. The Gospel seeds Julie had already planted were ready to bear fruit. That week, Cheyenne trusted in Christ. Julie testifies, “. . . I learned that everything happens for a reason [and] that God really does answer prayers.”

In the fall, Julie plans to attend Bloomsburg University where she will study a dual major of early childhood and special education.

DEBORAH BURGE

For three years now, Deborah has given her summers to reaching children for Christ. She testifies that it was in her childhood that “I realized my need for a Saviour and asked Christ to forgive me.”

Deborah demonstrates a spirit of faithfulness both in her years of service and through her interaction with the children. Last summer, God allowed her to lead a little boy to faith in Christ. Seeing his excitement for club motivated Deborah to keep in touch with him through

e-mail, months after club ended. “What a privilege,” she writes, “to not only lead Greyson to the Lord but also have an impact on his growth as well!”

This fall, Deborah will be a sophomore at Lancaster Bible College where she is majoring in elementary education.
